Computational Applied Mechanics

Greta Kloppenburg, M. Sc.

E-Mail: kloppenburg[at]uni-wuppertal.de

Room: HD.01.18

In her research, Greta is focusing on modeling the microstructure of paper as realistically as possible. Her work includes simulating fiber networks that are representative of paper. The goal of her research project is to integrate the fiber networks into the FE² concept within the framework of numerical homogenization.

Greta completed her bachelor and master studies in Civil Engineering with the specialization Constructive Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. During her studies, she spent a semester at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg (Sweden). Greta has started her PhD at RWTH Aachen University under Prof. Jaan-Willem Simon in February 2020, and has followed his call to the University of Wuppertal in WS22/23 as well.

Co-responsible for the following courses:

Winter semester 23/24: Mechanics of Materials

2022

Master's thesis of Xiangfeng Li: "Investigation of fiber orientation and fiber volume fraction using statistical analysis of paper CT scans"

2021

Bachelor's thesis of Elisabeth Walther: "Numerical determination of contact parameters of paper fiber bonds based on mode II experiments"
